Website theouterhaven The Outerhaven Productions

You like writing about video game news?

You may have heard of us, right? We hope so! A few years ago several friends and myself decided to start a gaming podcast, our own little place on the net where were could talk about video games and what we liked, what we didn’t and voice our own opinions.

*Fast forward 3 years later, hope Trunks didn’t need this time machine.*

Little did we know that this passion would become the launching board for what we’ve become today. The Outerhaven Productions went from just a simple podcast to a website that has been providing coverage of not just video games, but also comics, mangas, anime, technology and just about anything that you squeeze under the geek culture umbrella. From current news, reviews, monthly podcasts that cover both video gaming and comics, to attending and covering events such as IndieCade, New York Comic Con, PAX East, and many others. The Outerhaven Productions has been on a growth spurt as of recent years, and have zero plans of stopping our growth.

Why you should write for us?

Well, that’s an interesting question. The Outerhaven is an independent geek culture website that has been around since 2011. We provide news, reviews, editorials and videos on anime, video games, manga, film & tv, and technology to our expanding audience. We’ve attended events such as Comic-Con, E3, PAX, and others, to provide a look at the ever-changing geek culture landscape.

The opportunities that are available for our writers are directly tied to the level of drive and passion that our writers demonstrate for our site. Who doesn’t want to see the next big game or watch upcoming anime before anything else? Maybe attend an invite and get invited to interview your favorite developer/voice actor or be surrounded by your peers in this space? If this sounds like something you’d enjoy, then why not write for our site.

What’s in it for you?

We’re currently listed in Open Critic’s rand VR Gaming’s review aggregator. In addition to this, we average 4000-6000 unique visitors a day / 150,000+ a month. Which means that your works will be seen by a nice amount of visitors.A nice launching pad that can provide you with experience if you’re new to writing or just haven’t had any traction yet. We’ll also teach you the in’s and out’s of article creation.

Positions we’re looking to fill

All our positions are volunteer basis positions with the possibility of paid ops down the road. We’re looking for people who are dedicated and are able to roll with the punches and won’t bail when things are down. We’ve had some amazing years here and we’re looking to add more staff so we can handle everything that 2020 has in store.

Open Positions:

Video Game & Anime News Writer

Currently, we’re looking for writers who are looking to actively contribute to the site on a daily basis. You’ll be held to an expectation to make multiple article contributions to the site on a daily basis. This also means that we expect you to maintain a high level of quality and grammar in your articles. We have a minimum requirement of 3 articles a week. Focus on VR Gaming is a plus.

Game Reviewers

We’re always in need for those who have access to the current gaming consoles and PC. We receive codes from most of the larger PR companies and sometimes we have to turn down games due to the number of reviewers on staff. Focus on VR Gaming is a plus.

We have a minimum requirement of 3 articles a week.

Opinion / Editorial Writers

We want this to be our bread and butter. If you’re able to form a strongly opinionated piece, we’re looking for you. This includes guides, lists, and various other pieces. Currently, we want to maintain “Everything we know” pieces regarding 2020’s hottest upcoming games and the PS5/Xbox Series X consoles.

Experience with WordPress for all positions is a plus, but we will train the right candidates.

Only candidates, 18+ years of age will be considered.
